Spotlight On: Reishi

Today we’re spotlighting Reishi, one of the better-known medicinal mushrooms for its potent ability to heal.   Reishi (the Japanese name for it) has been used for 4,000 years in Asia, making it one of the oldest mushrooms known to be used medicinally. This fungus has been used integrally in Traditional Chinese Medicine, going by the name “Ling Zhi” which means the “Mushroom of Immortality”.    In TCM, ling zhi is known to nourish the heart and calm the spirit, making it a wonderful supplement for heart blood and heart qi, helping with insomnia, immunity, palpitations, nervousness and forgetfulness.   Any mushroom hunter will be quick to tell you how infrequent it is to come across a reishi mushroom in the wild. In fact, only 2 or 3 trees out of 10,000 will host reishi on their trunks!   Due to its rarity, in the Ming Dynasty, only members of the noble classes could afford it, giving it a reputation of divinity. According to Taoist legend, the Isles of the Immortals held secret groves where the sacred mushroom grew lushly (@traditionalmedicinals). Ling zhi was said to absorb earthly vapours and leave a heavenly atmosphere.   This queen is available in 3 of our 4 tinctures, ready to lull you to sleep and help you relax. Take it with our sleep remedy and leave those earthly vapes behind. Hello heaven!
